The Bus Diaries is a website with a focus on highlighting the issues that disabled people encounter on public transport.
The site has been set up by a group of young people with learning disabilities who need support to access local transport due to being visually impaired or being a wheelchair user. After months of problems and after writing many letters of complaint to both TFL and the bus companies themselves, where there seemed to be little or no improvement in how we were treated we decided to take action.
We have contacted the local paper and after a good response to the article from the public decided to create a website and blog about our experiences. We are fed up of being treated like an inconvenience and want to highlight the issues faced by people with disabilities on a daily basis, although we do receive some great service on some bus routes. We want to encourage others to share their experiences that they may have had on public transport good or bad, regardless if it's in using the Buses, Trains or even Taxis, write about those experiences and then send them to us so that we can read them and maybe add them to our Articles or Blog postings.
What we hope to achieve through doing this is to both change the attitudes of the few that are making day-to-day life for us difficult. through getting involved with campaigns like "On the Buses Day of Action". If you too feel strongly about this, then please get involved.
Thank You.
